The mission of St. Mary of Providence is to help people with developmental disabilities meet life's challenges and reach their highest potential in spiritual, emotional, mental and psychological growth, at the same time promoting their dignity as human beings. The 8th grade students spent the morning in Mass, aiding in the classrooms, and helping the women perform their jobs in the workshop. The 8th graders walked away with many thoughts of thankfulness, appreciation for their life, enjoyed the residents positive outlook, and the opportunity to spend the morning with them.
The students were able to enjoy a lunch at Taqueria La Catrina where their Spanish skills were put to the test. Senorita Bugos prepared the students to order their meals and drinks in Spanish, and they did a great job.
This life changing mission trip allowed us to go out of our comfort zone, grow in leadership, and appreciate those who are less fortunate than us. Our apostolic trip, allowed us to put our faith into practice, and the students walked away with a desire to value and promote human dignity.
