In celebration of Safer Internet Day 2018, Mano Amiga proudly hosted the very first Cybercafe Cafe, which served as the culminating activity for the digital literacy workshops conducted between November 27, 2017 to January 24, 2018. The Grade 7 and 8 students were divided into 6 groups, each tackling one of the following digital literacy topics: Authenticating Sources, Codes, Conventions, and Messages, Plagiarism, Cyberbullying, Netiquette, and Internet Addiction. Each of the groups had their own little cafe complete with tables, chairs, and of course, coffee and snacks! The special guests were so awestruck by the meticulous detail and hard work thoughtfully put into every presentation. “I could not believe the amount of work that the students put in and I was honestly blown away by the quality and the understanding of the topics that they were dealing with,” mentioned Clair Deevy, Facebook’s Head of Economic Growth Initiatives for Asia-Pacific.
