The RC Education team held its first school leadership conference at the Queen of the Family Retreat Center in Oxford, MI on September 28-30, 2016. There were twenty-six attendees at the conference representing six RC or RC Affiliated schools (Canyon Heights Academy, Clear Water Academy, East Lake Academy, Everest Collegiate High School and Everest Academy, Pinecrest Academy, and The Highlands School), International Center for Integral Formation (ICIF) in Mexico City, the North American Territorial Directorate, and the RC Education team. Among these twenty-six attendees were seven Legionary priests and six consecrated women of Regnum Christ who hold leadership roles in the schools.
The purpose of the conference was twofold: (1)to introduce the new director and assistant director of the RC Education (formerly National Consultants for Education) team, Fr. Daniel Brandenburg, LC and Elena Orozco (consecrated woman of Regnum Christi) to the school leadership teams; and (2)to provide an opportunity for the school leadership to determine the services RC Education would provide for the RC and RC affiliated schools in North America and Manila, Philippines over the course of the next few years.
The two and a half day schedule was centered on prayer (including daily Mass and Eucharistic adoration) and open-ended as well as directed collaboration among the attendees towards the accomplishment of the conference goals. The conference invitees participated in a preliminary conference survey, the results of which assisted in setting the direction of the conference discussions. Through much information sharing and engaging discussions, the attendees succeeded in proposing a list of ten major services ranging from formation in the RC Identity to facilitation in inter-school collaboration that the RC Education team will provide the RC and RC affiliated schools beginning immediately.
All in attendance seemed very pleased with the outcome of the first RC Education school leadership conference and optimistic about the positive and collaborative relationship between the RC schools and the RC Education Team.
